Saints may not practice like normal before Week 2 game vs. Cowboys due to reason they can’t control

As the New Orleans Saints prepare for Week 2 action, they may have to deal with some difficult weather.

Ahead of a tough game against the Dallas Cowboys, Dennis Allen and the Saints front office are keeping a close eye on a tropical storm heading towards Louisiana.

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Francine

According to Katherine Terrell of ESPN, the Saints are staying "on notice" regarding Tropical Storm Francine. The storm is expected to intensify into a hurricane by Monday night or Tuesday morning, via the National Hurricane Center.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry recently issued a state of emergency ahead of the storm's landfall. It is expected to make landfall on the southwest coast of Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday. New Orleans public schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. -- Terrell

Dennis Allen says that he is meeting with the team on Tuesday to discuss a potential change of plans when it comes to their practice schedule this week.

"My plan is to have a Zoom call with the team at some point tomorrow and we'll talk about what we need to do." -- Allen on Monday

Saints' practice schedule

The Saints head coach notes that their Wednesday/Thursday schedule may be what is altered the most. He did not think that evacuation would be required due to the hurricane, but that can always change.

The latest weather projection model actually shows that New Orleans may get a worse dose of bad weather than previously expected, though. If that's the case, the Saints may have to reevaluate their plan for later this week.

For the Saints, only time will tell. Hopefully, the weather allows them to stay safe and on schedule. If not, they will be tested with a shift in preparation for their Week 2 matchup against the Cowboys.

The Saints play Dallas in Texas on Sunday.
