The NFL season is now in full swing. In their first injury report, the Cardinals had 51 of 53 players as full participants. Wide receiver Xavier Weaver was the sole non-participant in Wednesday’s practice, listed with an oblique injury.
The Cardinals take on Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills at Orchard Park on Sunday, with kickoff at Highmark Stadium set for 10:00 A.M. MST. Here’s the full injury report for both teams.
Did Not Participate
Cardinals
- WR Xavier Weaver (oblique)
Bills
- DE Javon Solomon (oblique)
Weaver made the roster as a reserve receiver, with Marvin Harrison Jr., Greg Dortch, and Michael Wilson expected to carry much of the load. Due to his speed and quickness, it was possible that he could serve as the fourth receiver on the field and a return man. Should Weaver be unavailable, running back Deejay Dallas would serve as the primary kickoff and punt returner.
Limited Participation
Cardinals
- TE Tip Reiman (ankle)
Bills
- QB Mitchell Trubisky (knee)
Having Reiman healthy would be critical for the Cardinals. Their best chance of beating the Bills will come to the success of their own running game. Being able to control the line of scrimmage would not only allow them to eat the clock, effectively limiting the opportunities that Allen can beat them, but give them the best chance to score. Reiman would serve as an additional point of attack blocker as an additional tight end in multiple tight end sets.
Full Participation
Bills
- S Cole Bishop (shoulder)
- TE Quintin Morris (shoulder)
- WR Curtis Samuel (toe)
The Cardinals did not list a single player as a “full participant” but we can assume no news is good news for the 51 players whose status aren’t mentioned in this injury report. Despite a couple of impactful injuries to the front seven, the team is relatively healthy entering their season opener.
