Vegas Golden Knights Are Mexico Bound

Hockey is a sport that is still growing around the world and the Vegas Golden Knights are looking to help expand the game in a new market. The Golden Knights recently announced that they will be headed to Mexico. During it’s “LosVGK en México” trip, September 6-10 in Mexico City, Metepec and Monterrey.

“In addition to the 225,000 people of Mexican heritage that already live in Las Vegas, our city also welcomes over half a million visitors from Mexico each year. Second only to Canada,” said President & CEO Kerry Bubolz. “LosVGK en México is an exciting opportunity for us to reach new fans and share our passion for the great sport of hockey.”

The Vegas Golden Knights are collaborating with the Mexican Ice Hockey Federation, Ice Hockey Workshops, and Fundación Dr. Sonrisas for the trip. Marketing 101

The Vegas Golden Knights introduced the LosVGK brand in October 2023. Building upon the team’s outreach to its Hispanic and Latin American fanbase. Hispanics and Latinos make up less than 1% of players in the NHL. Without a doubt growing interest in the community will enhance the brand overall. Which will help with more players with Hispanic and Latino heritage giving hockey a chance more and increasing that number eventually. The NHL would welcome having more Hispanic fans filling up arenas as they are some of the most passionate fans in this country when it comes to sports like Soccer and Boxing. In a city like Las Vegas hockey is very appealing. The fan support is second to none. Also being inside a ice cold arena is a great escape from the Vegas heat as well.
