The New Orleans Saints have a new captain this year.
One who is a jack of all trades.
The Saints elected tight end Taysom Hill as one of their captains, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed.
Hill, the former quarterback who plays a variety of positions, was named along with seven other teammates — a group comprised of Derek Carr, Erik McCoy, Cam Jordan, Tyrann Mathieu, Demario Davis, JT Gray and Zach Wood.
It is the first such honor of Hill’s career. The former BYU standout, who has been with the Saints since 2019, turned 34 years old last month.
The Saints selected their captains Monday night at a team dinner with a player-led vote. New Orleans opens the season Sunday when it hosts the Carolina Panthers at the Caesars Superdome.
