The Indianapolis Colts added an RB due to injuries piling up

The Indianapolis Colts have made a move with injuries piling up in the running back room following their preseason loss to the Denver Broncos.

They announced that they claimed RB Demetric Felton off of waivers and waived-injured RB Trent Pennix.

The Cleveland Browns drafted Felton with the 211th pick in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He appeared in 24 games with the Browns over two seasons, recorded 20 rushing yards on eight attempts (2.5 yards per attempt), and added 20 receptions for 189 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hes dealt with multiple injuries during his career and as a result hasn't been able to appear in a regular season NFL game since 2022, though he has spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals (2023), and the Chicago Bears (2024).

To make room for Felton, the Colts waived injured RB Trent Penix. Penix signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent this offseason after a six-year college career at North Carolina State, where he played both RB and TE. In his first four seasons at North Carolina State, he was listed as an RB, and in 2022, he switched to TE, where he would spend his final two seasons. After signing Pennix, the Colts listed him as his original college position of RB, which is where he played during training camp up until this point. If he clears waivers, Pennix will go on the Colts injury reserve and miss the entire 2024 season.
