Saints veteran's Week 1 performance may get fans extremely excited for the rest of 2024

There's been plenty of Alvin Kamara discusourse this offseason. He's been landlocked in a contract negotiation for months that pushed him from the practice field for a short time.

The Saints don't seem to be budging, and the former Pro Bowl running back isn't, either. Regardless, Kamara was a participant during training camp and even took some reps to open the preseason.

He's healthy and hungry to prove that he is still an elite runner in the NFL. Klint Kubiak's system, designed to get playmakers in space with the ball in their hands, seems to fit him nicely.

Kamara should be a major component of the Saints offense in 2024, and their Week 1 game should immediately prove his value in both the run and pass game for New Orleans. The numbers back him up.

Keep in mind - the Saints did undergo an offensive makeover. From a scheme perspective, it is expected to look quite different.

Accordingly, Kamara's usage will shift, too. That being said, Derek Carr is still their quarterback. Under pressure, he will often hope that Kamara is his safety outlet underneath. He won't stop looking for him in those situations due to a change at play-caller.

Kamara is not worried about his contract at this point, either. He made that clear during the week of game day.

"It's too late for contract talk. Like I told yall when I got to LA, if it gets done cool, if it don't, cool. I'm kind of at the point where I'm like, I'm not even talking about it until after the season. " -- Kamara

No matter what - if Kamara can have a big Week 1, it will go a long way towards a Saints win to begin the regular season.
