Prayers Pouring In For Saints Legend Steve Gleason After Being Hospitalized

Steve Gleason and Drew Brees.

The NFL community received concerning news this week involving former New Orleans Saints safety Steve Gleason.

Gleason, who revealed in 2011 that he was diagnosed with ALS, had to go to the hospital earlier this week due to a medical event. His publicist revealed that he had extremely low blood pressure on Wednesday.

Thankfully, Gleason is in stable condition. He's currently recovering at his local hospital.

Even though Gleason is dealing with a medical concern right now, his thoughts are on those who were impacted by Hurricane Francine this week.

"ALS is a hurricane of a disease. And on 9/11 in the midst of Hurricane Francine, power outages & sketchy phone service, hurricane ALS made landfall. Thank you for the powerful love and support from all of you," Gleason said. "Celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing. I love y'all."

Saints fans immediately responded to Gleason's statement with heartfelt words about the 47-year-old's kindness and courage.

"You are the best! Hang in there buddy, you have a wonderful support group! Love you," one fan replied.

"Praying for you," another fan said.

"Keep fighting Steve," a third fan wrote.

"We love you too Steve," a social media user added. "God bless you my friend."

Gleason was this year's recipient of the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

"This award, the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage, is a sublime honor for me," Gleason said. "Considering this truth of our humanity, it’s vital that we all, individually and collectively, discover ways to be courageous and love the life we have."

We're wishing Gleason a speedy recovery from this week's medical event.
