Falcons vs. Steelers: Atlanta begins the season as 3.5-point underdogs over Pittsburgh

This will be the first regular-season look at Kirk Cousins under center in red-and-black, the marquee offseason move that Atlanta made to harness the explosive potential of its offense. During his tenure in Washington and Minnesota, Cousins only faced Pittsburgh twice — going 1-1 with two touchdowns and four interceptions.

Atlanta will have a little extra motivation on Sunday, as they will be facing off against recent head coach Arthur Smith. Smith was unceremoniously fired last season after tallying three-straight 7-10 seasons. Smith was brought in as the Steelers’ offensive coordinator, and you can better believe Atlanta would like nothing better than to embarrass their former skipper at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Pittsburgh holds a commanding 15-2-1 record over Atlanta all-time. They’ll roll out a revamped offense of their own, opting for quarterback Russell Wilson under center to start the season. Wilson has been dreadful since he left Seattle, and is hoping a change of scenery and offensive game plan can revitalize his career.

The over/under is sitting at 42.5 points, with the Falcons -186 moneyline favorites at home on Sunday.
