The Arizona Cardinals announced Saturday that they are elevating two linemen on both sides of the ball from the practice squad ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
After placing starting defensive tackle Justin Jones (triceps) on injured reserve and ruling out reserve nose tackle Khyiris Tonga (knee), Arizona (1-2) is moving defensive lineman Angelo Blackson up from the practice squad. The Cardinals also signed Naquan Jones back to the active roster earlier this week and could have first-round pick Darius Robinson back as soon as Monday after he was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return before the start of the year.
Blackson played in 16 games for the Cardinals in 2020, recording 24 tackles, 2.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits and four tackles for loss. He was originally the 100th overall pick out of Auburn in 2015 and has spent time with five different teams during the regular season across his 10-year NFL career: the Jacksonville Jaguars (2023), Chicago Bears (2021-22), Cardinals (2020), Houston Texans (2017-19) and Tennessee Titans (2015-16).
Veteran offensive tackle Charlie Heck is also being upgraded to the active roster for the second-straight week after Arizona listed starting right tackle Kelvin Beachum as questionable with a hamstring injury that caused him to miss last week’s 20-13 loss to the Detroit Lions.
Tomorrow’s game against the Commanders kicks off at 1:05 p.m. MST. Washington elevated DE Andre Jones Jr. and RB Chris Rodriguez Jr. from the practice squad after ruling out Austin Ekeler (concussion) and Clelin Ferrell (knee) earlier this week.
