Bengals to feature world record-holder doing what he does best in season-opening halftime performance

Competitive eating is set to take over the first halftime show of the Cincinnati Bengals' season. And the Bengals didn't just book any competitive eater, they booked the competitive eater.

World-record holder and champion of the sport Joey Chestnut will compete against five individuals in an Oktoberfest Bratwurst Eating Contest during halftime of the Bengals' season-opener against the New England Patriots.

Chestnut is the undisputed G.O.A.T. in the competitive eating world. He's most famous for winning the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest a staggering 16 times since 2007.

Chestnut notably did not compete in this year's competition due to his new partnership with Impossible Foods, which is a rival brand of Nathan's. He was banned from the event back in June.

Competitive eating fans were given the chance to see Chestnut dominate this past weekend as he broke his record by eating 83 hot dogs against former rival Takeru Kobayashi in the Netflix-hosted event "Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef."

Hot dogs are what Chestnut is known to devour, so why is he eating brats this time? Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is coming up later this month, and it's likely that Chestnut is helping promote America's largest Oktoberfest event by eating the German delicacy.

The Bengals are set for an exciting first game of the season. They'll be wearing their all-orange uniforms featuring brand new orange pants for the first time ever, and will also have a flyover before kickoff.
