Andrei Iosivas set to be WR3 for Bengals; Jermaine Burton not ready for a big role

Bengals coaches reportedly don’t think Jermaine Burton is ready.

Jermaine Burton has looked explosive when he’s been on the field. But there appears to be a good reason why he didn’t enter preseason contests early in the games.

Andrei Iosivas Could See Increased Role Against Arizona: 'All A Rookie Can Ask For'

According to The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr., Cincinnati Bengals coaches don’t feel that Burton is currently ready to take on a big role in the offense.

Meanwhile, second-year receiver Andrei Iosivas has the fast track to becoming the Tyler Boyd replacement as the WR3 in Cincinnati. The 24-year-old only had 116 yards last season, but he did make some big plays, including four touchdowns on just 25 overall targets.

Here is what Dehner Jr. wrote about the receiver situation:

Iosivas will soak up the majority of snaps alongside Chase and Higgins in 11 personnel... As for Burton, don’t expect him to contribute anytime soon. They have tried him out at returner to see whether he can carve out a role there but gave way to Jones on Thursday. There’s just not enough trust in Burton right now to put him on the field with Burrow. He needs more time to build that in the coming months.

Meanwhile, the defense seems to have its bite back, thanks in large part to the additions of Geno Stone and Vonn Bell. We chatted about the returned swagger of the defense in our most recent show.
